K‑ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) is a mandatory online permit for citizens of visa‑exempt countries entering South Korea for tourism, business, or short visits.

No—it doesn’t guarantee entry. Final approval is made by immigration officials upon arrival.

If you don’t clear immigration during your stopover, you typically don’t need K‑ETA. However, if you’re leaving the airport, better double-check with your airline or apply to be safe.
